Manager Richard Langley has told Dover striker Tommy Tyne that it is highly unlikely that he will be offered a new contract when his current deal expires at the end of the season.

Tyne, who joined the Whites in 2001 when he became one of Gary Bellamy’s first signings, has enjoyed his best season at the club this year and has won over the supporters with a number of fine performances and seven goals.

However he was dropped for the clash with Weymouth on Saturday in favour of youngster Dale Skelton and it seems that Langley has decided that Matt Carruthers is the better option in partnering Craig Wilkins.

A gutted Tyne stated, “I thought that I had been playing well, but the manager stated that he expects more goals from me. I thought I had been an integral part of the side in the last few months but to be told this news is a blow and to say I am disappointed is an understatement. I will just have to knuckle down for the remainder of the season.”
