Dover will travel to Bury in the Emirates FA Cup first round proper during the weekend of 9-12 November.
And a quick look at the Shakers’ recent results was enough to show Andy Hessenthaler the task at hand when his side visit Gigg Lane next month.
“They beat Notts County 4-0 last weekend,” said Athletic’s manager shortly after the draw was made. “They have got some good players, so ideally I would have preferred a home draw, but the onus is on Bury and we can go there in a few games time with no fear.
“I’ve got some wonderful memories of the FA Cup, including reaching the quarter-finals as a player against Chelsea and also going up against Arsenal as a manager.
“However we will look forward to the first round more when the time comes as we have three very important league matches to play before then.”
And it’s a trip to Braintree next for Dover, a game Hessenthaler describes as a ‘battle of the bravest’.
“Braintree picked up a great point at Salford the other week, so it is vital we don’t let our standards fall below the levels that have been set in our last two games.”
