Fred Deveson chats to Francis Mampolo after his strong second-half performance in Dover’s 1-1 draw at Chatham. Francis is optimistic about Dover’s season, but doesn’t want to get too ahead of himself, with the emphasis on taking each game one at a time.
The winger came on as a substitute at half time in Dover’s draw to Chatham yesterday, making a real impact as the Whites fought back to earn a draw. There was a good following from Dover at the last game in Chatham, which Mampolo said in his interview helps him, as well as other factors like his teammates, Jake Leberl and Mike Sandmann.
He said: “Mike and the gaffer told me what their plan was and I feel like I was on board straight away.” Francis is also hoping his performances off the bench will earn him a place in the starting lineup soon, giving manager Jake Leberl a potential selection headache. Francis on getting in the starting lineup said: “Hopefully next week, we will have to wait and see.”
The ex-Tonbridge Angels man helped to set up the equaliser in yesterday’s draw, with some great wing play helping to create the chance for Nikaj to score.
