As preparations continue for the new National League South season, Dover Athletic manager Jake Leberl has strengthened his backroom team with two key additions.
Chief Scout – Richard Bates
Rich Bates officially joined the club during the early weeks of last season, having already played a pivotal role in the club’s summer recruitment. With more than a decade of experience as a Chief Scout, Rich brings a wealth of knowledge and tactical insight. He has previously worked as a scout for England C under Paul Fairclough and has supported clubs across the football pyramid, from the Essex Senior League to the National League.
Rich spent five years with Bowers & Pitsea FC during their most successful era, helping them to promotion to the Isthmian Premier Division in 2019 and a historic run to the FA Cup First Round Proper in 2021. His work is focused on opposition analysis, tactical planning and recruitment. He splits his time between scouting upcoming opponents and being in the dugout on matchdays, working closely with Jake, Mike and the coaching team. He has also played an important role in developing the club’s official partnership with Chislehurst Glebe FC.
Coach – Lynden Dixon
Lynden Dixon has come on board ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, adding fresh energy and experience to the first-team setup. He previously spent four years coaching in Margate FC’s academy and youth structure and has delivered football and multi-sport programmes through Limitless Sports Coaching.
Alongside his football credentials, Lynden is Programme Director for Sport & Leisure at EKC Broadstairs College, combining educational leadership with practical coaching. His focus at Dover will be on individual player development both on and off the pitch.
Continuing in their roles this season are:
- Mike Sandmann – Assistant Manager
- Paul Hyde – Goalkeeper Coach
- Will Narramore – Physio
- Josh Swainsbury – Kit Manager
With the backroom team now in place, the Whites are well-equipped for the challenges ahead in the 2025/26 season.
