POST-MATCH REACTION | ANDY HESSENTHALER | DOVER 1-1 ST ALBANS CITY

Andy Hessenthaler spoke to BBC Radio Kent’s Matt Gerrard after the National League South draw at Crabble on Saturday.

Winger Luke Wanadio, who had been ill during the week and did well to last 64 minutes, put Whites ahead from the penalty spot in the 27th minute.

The visitors also equalised from the spot five minutes before half-time through leading scorer Shaun Jeffers.

Jeffers had the chance to double the lead with another penalty a minute later but he saw his effort superbly saved by Stuart Nelson.

Earlier, Dover had to make a late change to their starting line-up after Will Moses was taken ill during the warm-up.

Dover Athletic: Nelson, Judd, Paxman, Brundle, Higgs, Pavey (Grant 72’), Wanadio (Kandi 64’), Martin, Wilkinson, Sterling, Baptiste

Subs Not Used:  Krasniqi, Nikaj, Byford

Attendance: 538

LAST TIME WE MET IN A LEAGUE GAME AT CRABBLE  –  APRIL 30th 2011

Dover Athletic 4-1 St Albans City

Dover’s last-ditch bid to steal a promotion play-off spot was foiled, despite a commanding win against relegated St Albans.

Other results failed to go in their favour and Martin Hayes’ side finished an eventful season in league and cup two points outside the playoffs.

Adam Birchall rounded off his impressive tally for the season at 45 goals in all competitions as he added a brace.

Nathan Ashton opened the scoring on 21 minutes following an impressive run by Harry Baker, who latched on to Barry Cogan’s ball over the top.

Birchall got in on the act three minutes later to double the lead, capitalising on some clumsy defending to finish cooly under the visiting goalkeeper Conor Gough.

Just before the break, Donovan Simmonds broke through the offside trap to make it 3-0 after 41 minutes.

In the second half, the visitors squeezed a goal back from a neatly taken Peter Smith free kick. But as expected, Birchall had the final say of a memorable season to net his 34th league goal on 64 minutes.

Dover Athletic: Ross Flitney, Matt Fish, Rob Gillman, Tom Wynter, Nathan Ashton, Harry Baker, Sam Cutler, Jon Wallis (Lewis Spence), Barry Cogan, Donovan Simmonds, Adam Birchall.

Subs not used: Elliott Charles, Olly Schulz, Sam Long, Lee Hook.

Attendance: 847

NATIONAL LEAGUE ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF STREAMING PLATFORM

The National League has this evening issued the following statement regarding the streaming of games in all divisions.

The National League Board is pleased to be in a position to provide a streaming update following a Board meeting on Wednesday 30 November.

As you are aware, the National League Board recently announced its intention to pursue the implementation of a streaming platform in the second half of the current season.

A huge amount of work has been ongoing behind-the-scenes with the League now in a position to announce a soft launch of the streaming platform on Saturday 10 December with a full launch two weeks later.

The first phase of the launch will see streaming introduced for National Division clubs only while the League works with North and South clubs running pilot events in the second half of the season to ensure logistically it can be delivered for North and South Divisions for the 2023/24 season.

The National League would again like to reiterate its commitment to providing a quality streaming platform that benefits all 72 Member Clubs.

Thanks must go to BT Sport and title sponsors Vanarama for their continued support.

Further updates around pricing and sign-up activity will be announced shortly

ACADEMY CHAT

As a club, we are incredibly proud of what our Academy has achieved so far this season.

They have reached the Third Round of the FA Youth Cup and will take on Premier League Brighton & Hove Albion at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre on December 14th.

Manager Mike Sandmann’s squad has won all six games they’ve played to reach this stage of the competition and is the only non-league academy left in it.

But what has been the key to the success of the talented squad?

Well, we caught up with Academy captain Bleu Landau and the leading scorer in the competition with 12 goals, Archie Hatcher, to find out and also find more out about themselves.

POST-MATCH REACTION | MIKE SANDMANN | HAMPTON & RICHMOND BOROUGH 0-2 DOVER

Mike Sandmann was full of praise for the players after Dover bounced back from the disappointing FA Trophy defeat a week earlier with an impressive win in the National League South clash at the Beveree Stadium.

Jake Goodman headed Whites ahead inside two minutes before Luke Wanadio doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 38th minute.

The win leaves Andy Hessenthaler’s 12th on the table ahead of Saturday’s game against St Albans City at Crabble (12.30pm).

MATCH PREVIEW: HAMPTON & RICHMOND BOROUGH V DOVER

Andy Hessenthaler’s squad makes the trip to Middlesex on Saturday aiming to bounce back quickly from the disappointment of the FA Trophy defeat at Uxbridge last Saturday.

The hosts also bowed out of the Trophy last week, losing 1-0 against visiting Farnborough.

LAST TIME WE MET  –  MARCH 27th 2012

Dover Athletic’s Blue Square Bet South play-off chances suffered another setback with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Hampton & Richmond at Crabble.

It was Whites’ second home reverse in the space of four days, following Saturday’s 4-0 humiliation by Staines, and was watched by a gate of 525 – the lowest league attendance at Crabble this season.

Dave Tarpey scored the 32nd-minute winner for the visitors.

DOVER TEAM NEWS

Captain Lee Martin is back in the matchday squad after missing the defeat at Uxbridge through suspension.

George Nikaj is also available again after being cup-tied last Saturday.

FA YOUTH CUP TIE DETAILS CONFIRMED

Our Academy will head to Sussex to play Premier League Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Youth Cup on December 14th.

The Third Round tie will be played at the state-of-the-art American Express Elite Football Performance Centre, which is Brighton’s training and teaching facility, in Lancing at 7pm.

The Academy reached this stage of the competition after winning 3-0 at Lowestoft Town on Tuesday.

GREEN GOES OUT ON LOAN

We can confirm that central defender Alex Green has today joined Southern Counties East Premier Division side Deal Town on loan for a month.

The 19-year-old former Academy captain made his National League debut as a second-half substitute against Boreham Wood at Crabble in August 2021 before a foot injury ruled him out for the season.

He made his first start of this season in the FA Trophy tie at Uxbridge last Saturday.

Go well, Alex, and enjoy your time with The Hoops.

POST-MATCH REACTION | MIKE SANDMANN | LOWESTOFT 0-3 ACADEMY

Our Academy continued its outstanding FA Youth Cup campaign in stunning style in Suffolk on Tuesday evening.

Goals from Leo Dodds, Mohammed Ali, and Archie Hatcher earned their side a place in the Third Round and a trip to Premier League Brighton & Hove Albion.

Manager Mike Sandmann knew who deserved the credit for the fantastic win – his players.

He said: ” I couldn’t be prouder of the players – to a man they performed and limited Lowestoft to few chances.

“We certainly saved our best performance in the competition for this game.

“It’s a massive occasion for the players and a lot of pressure for both teams, but I felt we dealt with that particular well.

“Lowestoft are a good side – you don’t get to this stage of the competition unless you’re a good side, but I felt our performance really limited them on the night.

“We now have the opportunity to travel to Brighton and enjoy the occasion and game against a Premier League side.

“It will be great for our players to compete against them and have the exposure that will come from it.

“The players deserve all the credit they will receive –  myself and staff couldn’t be prouder of them.

“We could also potentially become the only non-league club left in the competition which will speak volumes in itself.”
