You will have a fantastic extra incentive to come to Crabble for our National League showdown against Solihull Moors on Saturday 23rd November.
Taking into account the cost to support Whites on the road and with plenty of away trips on the horizon, Chairman Jim Parmenter has made a very generous offer of FREE travel ahead of our upcoming Emirates FA Cup second round tie.
In a gesture of goodwill to our loyal fanbase, our chairman has up to 250 coach spaces available for our visit to either Peterborough United or Stevenage Borough during the weekend of Saturday 30th November.
To claim your free seat, simply collect a token from the Centre Spot during the match against Solihull.
Please note tokens are offered on a first come, first served basis with one token permitted per person.
Tokens will only be issued to fans attending the game on 23rd November.
Anyone under 18 must have an adult present when collecting a token as well as when travelling to the FA Cup tie.
Raul Sotiriou may have only played 10 minutes against Southend United on Sunday afternoon, but that was all he needed to make an impression on the home fans.
The Cypriot scored the winner three minutes after coming off the bench as Whites stunned the League One strugglers at Crabble in the FA Cup.
After the first round tie, Sotiriou said: “The boys dug deep and we should have been ahead at the end of the first half. I thought we dominated the game and I was buzzing to get the winner.
“The manager just told me to get in behind and run them ragged and that’s what I did and scored.”
The 19-year-old darted onto Aaron Simpson’s upfield ball before firing an unstoppable effort past visiting keeper Nathan Bishop from a tight angle.
The Cyprus under-21 International said: “I just took a touch out of my feet and shot. I was going to square it to Inih (Effiong), but I wanted that for myself.”
Southend came into the tie second bottom of League One and with only one win in the league so far this season.
About the Shrimpers, Sotiriou said: “Obviously we knew they were struggling and they are not confident right now, so we knew we had them at their weakest point to go on and beat them.”
Sotiriou’s loan deal runs out at the end of the month, but he admitted that it almost happened earlier. “I was supposed to come to Dover about a month and a half ago, but I was in and around Leyton Orient’s first team so I thought I might get my chance there.
“But when the gaffer Carl Fletcher pulled me into his office and said he wanted me to go to Dover, I came.”
The striker didn’t have much time to celebrate the victory, departing on a flight to Larnaca the following morning to join his teammates as Cyprus’ youngsters prepare for a home match against Norway on Friday 15th November.
Sotiriou’s involvement in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifier means the teenager will miss Dover’s National League trip to Yeovil Town on Saturday, with Andy Hessenthaler’s men in front of the BT Sport cameras for a second consecutive weekend.
We will travel to Peterborough United or Stevenage FC in the Emirates FA Cup.
Andy Hessenthaler’s men will find out their second round opponent when League One Peterborough host League Two Stevenage in a first round replay on Tuesday 19th November, kick off 7:45 pm.
Marcus Maddison’s stunner for the Posh 11 minutes from time saw the two sides draw 1-1 at Broadhall Way on Saturday after Elliott List had fired the home side ahead.
Andy Hessenthaler said of the tie. “It would have been nice to have been at home again, but given our results against Southend, we should not be scared whoever we face.
“I expect myself and one of my staff will be at the replay and though Peterborough will be favourites, you never know in the FA Cup. We will be well prepared either way when the game comes along.
Athletic’s boss concluded: “Now we have a trip to Yeovil to get ready for and we want to keep our good run going in front of the TV cameras.”
The tie is scheduled to take place during the weekend of Saturday 30th November, with the victorious clubs winning £54,000 from the FA prize fund.
Our National League tie away to FC Halifax Town, originally planned for the same weekend, has been postponed with a new date for our trip to The MBI Shay Stadium to be announced in due course.
