REASON AFTER HOME IMPROVEMENT

Midfielder Jai Reason is confident home form will turn around after Dover suffered their fourth defeat of the campaign at Crabble last weekend.

Saturday’s 2-0 defeat by FC Halifax Town in front of the BT Sport cameras means Whites’ have only won once at home since August, in contrast to on the road where Athletic have been victorious in six out of seven matches so far, however Reason believes results will soon start to go their way at Crabble.

Reason said after the loss, “We just can’t seem to get a winning formula at home and Saturday was a hard one to take coming off the back of two good away wins.

“It’s all good in hindsight but we do need to find something at home, so we will dust ourselves down and look at what we can do better in training and then get ready for Saturday’s game against Notts County.”

Despite a disappointing first couple of months at home, the 29-year-old feels Dover will improve results at Crabble to help with their promotion bid.

“The league is so open this year and you only have to look at the big clubs from last season – the likes of Solihull and Fylde have had a tough start and we are above them.

“We have got enough quality in the dressing room and it is still early on, so I am confident we will be there or thereabouts by the end of April.”

He also admits he should help his teammates by finding the back of the net himself!

“I need to get on the scoresheet and get that off my back” he said.

“I wasn’t getting in the right positions in the early games.  I don’t know if that was because of my fitness, but I feel fitter and stronger now and I got in better positions against Halifax to get shots off so I think the goals will come sooner rather than later.”

Dover will attempt to get their second home win of the season when they welcome Notts County to Crabble on Saturday 5th October, kick-off 3 pm
