Dover will look to put their defeat to Solihull Moors behind them as they welcome fellow strugglers Barnet to Crabble.

Despite being on top during the early stages of Saturday’s defeat, a goal on the half hour mark turned the tide of the game, with The Moors doubling their lead in the second half.

Following that defeat, Andy Hessenthaler’s men remain bottom of the league, with The Bees sitting one place above them in 22nd.

Both teams have been hit with numerous postponements over the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with Dover still having played the least amount of games out of everyone in the league.

It’s not been much better for Barnet with the side from North London only playing 2 more games this season, with only Whites and Solihull Moors playing less so far.

Both sides having matching records in their last five games, losing four and drawing one. A win for Dover will see them leapfrog the visitors and will go two points behind Weymouth if they lose away at Aldershot.

A win for Tim Flowers’ side will see them move level on points with Weymouth, however they will stay behind The Terras on goal difference.

The two teams only played each other once last season, with the game at Crabble being cancelled due to the pandemic.

Whites came away with all three points at The Hive earlier that season, with Inih Effiong scoring the only goal of the game in second half stoppage time.

Since then Effiong left Dover and joined Stevenage in the summer, he would then join The Bees on a one month loan where he scored once in five games for the club. After leaving Barnet, he joined Notts County on loan until the end of the season.

Tuesday evening’s match could also see the return to Crabble for both Jack Connors and Alfie Pavey who are now on the books at The Bees.

Connors joined Whites for the 2018-19 season, but only made 10 league appearances for the club, spending alot of his time out on loan at Hampton & Richmond Borough. He left Whites at the end of that season and joined Dulwich Hamlet at the beginning of last season, before earning a move back to the National League with Barnet this season. He has played five times for The Bees so far this campaign.

Pavey signed for Whites during the 2018-19 season and would go onto score 11 goals in 37 games for the club before leaving for Barnet a year later.

The forward is yet to score in 15 league appearances for the club, however missed most of last season with a broken leg. He joined Dartford on a two-month loan in November, but was recalled early after making four appearances for the fellow Kent side.

Barnet’s Player to Watch

JJ Hooper joined the club at the beginning of the season and is a proven goalscorer in this league, having scored regularly for both Bromley and Wrexham before joining Barnet. The striker also has four goals in 12 games this season.

Whites are back in action on Saturday as they welcome Solihull Moors to Crabble in Vanarama National League.

Andy Hessenthaler’s side will look to bounce back from last Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Wrexham where, despite being level at half-time thanks to Ahkeem Rose’s equaliser, two second-half goals condemned Whites to their ninth league loss of the season.

The Solihull Moors fixture was meant to be played in December, however, it was postponed due to COVID-19 in Whites’ camp.

The game was then rescheduled to take place on February 2nd, but with both sides having a free Saturday and with fixtures building up due to further postponements, the National League made the decision to bring the fixture forward.

Whites still sit bottom of the league, however, our home point against Boreham Wood moved us two points behind Barnet and Weymouth who sit 22nd and 21st respectively.

A win for Dover will see them move above both sides if each fail to get a result in their respective fixtures.

The Moors currently sit 12th in the league table having won seven of their 13 games played so far this campaign. They sit a point outside the playoffs and a win could see them move as far up as fifth if results go their way.

It was honours even in this fixture last season after a Jamey Osborne free-kick denied what would’ve been a third consecutive victory for Dover.

Inih Effiong put Whites ahead early on, however, Osborne equalised midway through the first half as the points were shared.

Solihull Moors’ Player to Watch

Jimmy Ball is the top scorer for The Moors this season with four goals in nine games. He also scored in Solihull’s 3-2 defeat to Aldershot Town in the FA Trophy on Tuesday night.

Dover travel to Wrexham on Saturday, looking to continue their impressive record of having never lost at the Racecourse ground in five previous visits.

Andy Hessenthaler’s men ended of run of five straight defeats on Tuesday evening with a 1-1 draw against Boreham Wood.  Athletic fell behind in the first half through Kabonga Tshimanga’s accurate finish, however TJ Bramble’s first league goal for Dover midway through the second half made sure the points were shared at Crabble.

This was only Whites’ second league game since 21st November due to two separate COVID-19 isolation periods.

Wrexham have played six league games in that time, winning two, drawing one and losing three. The Dragons have not played since the end of December following postponements.

Saturday’s game was one of the many games that were previously moved back due to COVID-19, with the original game supposed to have been played on 12th December.

Dean Keates’ side currently sit in 16th in the National League table, having picked up 6 wins in the 14 games they’ve played this season. Despite being in the bottom half of the table, they only sit three points off a playoff spot and have games in hand over many sides above them.

The two teams only came up against each other once last season, as the game at the Racecourse was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Dover came away with a 2-1 victory in the only game between the two sides last season. Despite going behind in the first half through Mark Harris, a Ricky Modeste  goal followed by an injury time own goal from Shaun Pearson sealed victory for Whites.

Saturday’s game will see the away side come up against a familiar face in Anthony Jeffrey, who joined The Dragons in September after leaving Whites at the end of last season.

Jeffrey has played eight times for the Welsh club, however has not been in the last two Wrexham squads.  If the ex-white does play, it will be his 150th league game in his career.

Wrexham’s Player to Watch

Adi Yussuf, who joined the club on loan from Blackpool this summer, is the top scorer for the club so far this season with five goals in 12 games. He is also a very experienced player in this league with over 100 games to his name.

We are back in action for the first time since Boxing Day tonight when Boreham Wood visit Crabble in the Vanarama National League.

Andy Hessenthaler’s men have not played since the narrow 1-0 defeat to Dagenham and Redbridge at the same venue.

The following trip to Sutton was postponed due to a positive Covid-19 test result in the U’s camp before our game at Daggers was also postponed due to a covid investigation.

Our players and staff then spent 10 days in self-isolation meaning Weymouth’s visit to Crabble last Saturday was also called off.

We still have six players self-isolating, while Josh Passley is suspended following his red card against Dagenham.

Since Whites’ last game, Boreham Wood have only played one league game, beating Barnet 3-0 live on BT Sport.

Most recently, Wood was knocked out of the FA Cup in the Third Round by Championship side Millwall, losing 2-0.

Manager Luke Garrard’s side currently sits 11th in the National League. having picked up six wins in their first 13 games and are15 points ahead of Whites in the table.

Garrard was also named Vanamara National League manager of the month for December.

Athletic will look to make amends for last season’s 2-0 defeat in this fixture as goals from Sorba Thomas and Justin Shaibu condemned Whites to their third consecutive loss at that point.

The game will see the return of Femi Ilesanmi to Crabble.

The defender spent one season with us, which was sandwiched between a previous spell at Boreham Wood and his current spell at Meadow Lane.

Whilst at Crabble, Ilesanmi played 45 times in the National League, scoring twice.

Kabongo Tshimanga was the second top scorer in the National League last season with 19 goals and he’s continued that form into this season with The striker scoring seven goals and getting one assist so far this campaign.

Dover are back in Vanarama National League action on Boxing Day as they host Dagenham & Redbridge at Crabble live on BT Sport.

Andy Hessenthaler’s men have not played a league game since November 21st due to a positive Covid-19, with five matches postponed.

One of those postponements, against Chesterfield, was due to be played on Tuesday, however it was postponed once again following a positive test in the Spireites’ camp.

Dover were in action last Saturday in the Buildbase FA Trophy, losing 2-1 at Woking despite taking the lead shortly after the break.

Since Whites’ last league game, Daggers have played five National League games, winning two, losing two and drawing once.  They were also defeated in the Second Round of the FA Cup at Mansfield Town, and most recently hammered Ebbsfleet United 5-2 in the FA Trophy.

Daggers currently sit 18th in the National League, nine points ahead of Athletic, though Dover currently have four games in hand over the visitors.

This game will see returns to Crabble for Dean Rance, though former Whites’ skipper Mitch Brundle is suspended after a red card at Torquay earlier this month..

Rance joined the club from Gillingham in 2012 on a one month loan, before joining permanently that summer after being released from Gills. He would spend the next year at Crabble before moving onto Ebbsfleet where he would spend six seasons.  In his time at Crabble, he would go onto make 37 league appearances in the Conference South.

The match will also see Daggers manager Daryl McMahon return to Crabble, where he spent the 2012-13 season as a player, featuring 28 games for the club, scoring three goals.

Both Rance and McMahon played against Salisbury in the National League South 3-2 Playoff Final defeat back in 2013.

Dagenham & Redbridge’s Key Player

Summer signing Paul McCallum is top scorer for Daggers this season with four goals. He also scored 13 National League goals last season for both Solihull Moors and Barnet, and scored in the Bees’ National League playoff win against Yeovil.

After almost a month without a game, Dover travel to Woking on Saturday to kick off their Buildbase FA Trophy campaign.

Andy Hessenthaler’s men have not played since their 2-0 defeat against King’s Lynn Town in November due to a positive COVID-19 case which saw five matches postponed.

Since last month’s defeat to King’s Lynn, this weekend’s hosts have played three games, winning one and losing two. The Cards currently occupy the final play-off place, level on points with Wrexham and Maidenhead.

Whites will be looking to put their league form behind them as they head into a new competition on the back of a three-game losing streak. They currently sit bottom of the National League table, however due to the aforementioned postponements, have a number of games in hand over the teams above them.

This will be the second time in five weeks that these two sides have met, however Whites will want to forget about the result in the first game having been served with a 5-1 defeat.

Despite going ahead through Steve Rigg, Dover were hit for five through goals from Josh Davison, Kane Ferdinand and Max Kretzschmar, with the latter two getting two goals each.

Last season’s FA Trophy campaign was short-lived for Whites after losing on penalties against The Linnets after a 2-2 draw, whilst Woking also fell at the same stage, losing 3-1 away to Kingstonian.

Andy Hessenthaler’s side travel to Norfolk on Saturday aiming to bounce back from Tuesday’s night disappointing defeat.

Whites were hit for five for the second time at home this season – their sixth league loss so far this campaign.

Meanwhile, our hosts on Saturday have picked up six points from their last three games.  The linnets have beaten Woking and Barnet in recent weeks, as well as knocking League Two Port Vale out of the FA Cup, with a second round trip to League One Portsmouth their reward.

The Linnets were promoted to the National League last season on points per game at the expense of York City when the season was curtailed due to the pandemic.

Dover are no strangers to the The Walks Stadium, having played there last season in the FA Trophy First Round Proper.  It was the hosts who advanced to the next round on that occasion, winning 4-2 on penalties following a 2-2 draw.

Town have brought in nine players for this season, including Jamar Loza who has a Premier League appearance for Norwich to his name, coming on as a second half substitute in the Canaries 2-0 defeat to Arsenal in 2014.

Since leaving Norwich, he has played in the National League with Maidstone United and Woking, before moving back to Norfolk this summer when he signed for King’s Lynn.

Cameron King and Simon Power have both joined the club for the second time in their careers. King, who has joined from FC Halifax Town played for The Linnets in 2018 before moving to Halifax, whilst Power has started his second loan spell at the club.

Like Loza, King also started his career and Norwich, whilst Power is currently on loan at The Linnets from the Championship side.

Kyle Callan-McFadden, who joined the club on Friday morning and is also a graduate of the Norwich City youth academy, joined the club after spells in the USA and Ireland with Orlando City B and Sligo Rovers, respectively.

Kairo Mitchell, a product of the Leicester City academy, joined the club after spells in non-league with Nuneaton and Coalville Town. At the beginning of October he signed for fellow Kent side Dartford, however only 20 days later he signed for The Linnets. The Grenadan international has also scored three times for his country.

Finally, Tai Fleming joined the club after completing a two year scholarship at Yeovil, whilst Archie Mair, Danny Lupano and Kyle Barker have joined on loan from Norwich, Hull and Peterborough, respectively.

New signing Loza has scored four goals in his last three league games, including both goals in their 2-0 win against Barnet on Tuesday night.
