KENT CUP DATE SET

We will host Folkestone in the Kent Reliance Senior Cup semi-final at Crabble on Monday, March 6th.

Whites reached this stage of the competition after beating visiting Ryman League North side VCD Athletic 4-0 earlier this month.

James Caton, Moses Emmanuel (pictured), Connor Essam and Ira Jackson jnr scored the goals.

The club have reduced the admission price for the game down to just £5 for all, while under-11s get into Crabble for free, to allow as many fans and members of the community as possible to come along.

The game kicks-off at 7.45pm.

FIRST STEPS TAKEN

PLENTY of men took their first steps in a new Dover Athletic venture at Crabble on Sunday morning – walking football.

Over 20 men aged over 50 had a shot at playing the game.

The opening session of the project, which is run in conjunction with Dover District Council, attracted plenty of interest from those who thought their playing days were over.

The aim of the programme is to engage with the community to provide an opportunity for men aged 50+ to become more socially and physically active.

Each Sunday session starts at 10am and finishes at 11.30am.

The first five weeks will also be FREE of charge , so come along and have a go at playing!

The rules of the game are much the same as what we know – however, there are some differences.

Anything so much as a jog is prohibited for a start!!

Other rules include free kicks are indirect, kick-ins replace throws, there are no offsides and the ball must be kept below head height.

STEVENSON GOES OUT ON LOAN

Midfielder Jim Stevenson has joined fellow National League side Southport on loan for a month.

The 24-year-old, who joined us from Aldershot last summer, could make his debut in the league clash at Woking on Saturday.

Stevenson last featured for boss Chris Kinnear’s side in the Kent Senior Trophy win against VCD Athletic at Crabble on February 6.

His last league appearance was as a second half substitute in the 2-1 defeat at Macclesfield Town on January 10.

PREVIEW: NORTH FERRIBY UNITED V WHITES

Dover will be looking to get back in the play-off places when boss Chris Kinnear’s side heads to struggling North Ferriby United on Saturday.

Whites dropped from fifth to sixth on Wednesday night after Barrow AFC won 1-0 at Macclesfield Town.

Those three points saw Barrow replace Dover in the top five on goal difference.

North Ferriby United, who won promotion last season after beating AFC Fylde 2-1 in the play-off final, have found the going tough in their début season.

They are currently bottom and have the poorest home record in the league so far this season with 14 points from a possible 45.

The Yorkshire side have also lost their last two league games, but Kinnear is taking nothing for granted ahead of Whites first trip to Grange Lane or EON Visual Media Stadium as it is called.

He said: “They are fighting for their lives and will no doubt work really hard.

“It is sometimes harder to play a team that are down there and these are not the worst team in this league.”

NORTH FERRIBY UNITED’S RECENT FORM

Known as The Villagers, United slipped to the bottom of the National League ladder after losing 1-0 at Braintree Town last Saturday.

Seven days earlier, they lost 2-0 at home against Macclesfield Town.

RECENT MEETING

13/08/16:  Dover Athletic 2-0 North Ferriby United

HITMEN

Whites’ top scorer in the National League this season is Ricky Miller with 27 and 32 overall.

Miller missed the win against North Ferriby United at Crabble earlier this season through suspension.

The goals that day were scored by Miller’s strike partners Ross Lafayette and Moses Emmanuel.

Emmanuel now has 11 league goals to his name while Lafayette has 10.

Reece Thompson is North Ferriby United’s leading man with six goals.

DOVER TEAM NEWS

Assistant boss Jake Leberl said on Thursday that only striker Tyrone Marsh (knee) was not available.
