CLUB STATEMENT: RICKY MILLER

*BS*Following the acquittal of Ricky Miller in his court case, Dover Athletic Football Club have released the following statement.*BF*

The club learnt today that Ricky Miller was found not guilty of all charges made against him in his recent case at Luton Crown Court.

When we signed Ricky in the summer, he gave the Chairman and Manager an honest appraisal on the alleged incident, and we were happy to support him based upon this testimony.

Despite the pressure Ricky has been under in recent weeks, he has shown exceptional professionalism and has remained focused on his duties and responsibilities for the team throughout.

Upon hearing the verdict, Ricky’s mother contacted the club to express her gratitude for the support that has been shown. She said: “Our family are very grateful to the club and supporters, through what can only be described as the worst few months of our lives.

“We would like to thank them from the bottom of our hearts – without their support, I am not sure Ricky would have gotten through this.”

Speaking to doverathletic.com, Ricky said: “I’m absolutely ecstatic. It has been a hard time, but made easier with the support of the club, the manager, the fans and the Chairman. I told them what happened, and they chose to support me and picked me up when I was on my knees.

“For that I will be forever grateful – my family, and Dover Athletic, have been my rock and kept me on the straight and narrow.”

The club are now looking forward to all focus being on events on the pitch, starting with this weekend’s FA Trophy match against Whitehawk.

WHITES CHRISTMAS

WHITES CHRISTMAS

*BS*DOVER ATHLETIC MAKE IT A WHITES CHRISTMAS WITH HOSPITAL VISIT*BF*

First team players and staff paid a visit to the Padua Ward at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford on Tuesday December 1st, to bring some Christmas cheer amongst their young patients.

The side, led by club captain Jamie Grimes, clubbed together to purchase presents for the youngsters, some of whom may be spending the festive period within the ward. They also took time to speak to them about their own interests, and posed for photographs with the patients and their families.

The visit ensured the squad was able to spread some early Christmas cheer to so many children in the ward, and Grimes spoke of the importance of the visit: “It was good for the club to get out into the community and give something back. It was great to see the smiles on the children’s faces at seeing us and the presents – we wish all of the children we met a quick and full recovery, and a very Merry Christmas.”

Lorraine Cassar, Play Specialist at the Padua Ward, expressed her gratitude to the club for their visit: “It was great having Dover Athletic Football Club visit the children and parents on Padua Ward. I would like to say how professional they all were – they had a real interest in the children and took time to talk to them and their parents.

“It was great to see the smiles when the players handed out the presents that they had bought for the children. The staff on A&E were also very grateful for the players taking the time to visit the Paedicatric Department.”
