Up Next – Hampton & Richmond Borough vs Dover Athletic

Dover Athletic make the trip to Hampton & Richmond Borough this weekend, with the hosts facing a quick turnaround after their Tuesday night clash with Enfield. Hampton currently sit 19th in the National League South, just four points above the relegation zone, and will be eager to pick up vital points in their fight for survival.

The Whites, meanwhile, arrive in 16th place and 11 points clear of the drop, looking to build on a steady run of form. With both sides needing points for different reasons, Saturday’s encounter promises to be a competitive contest in south west London.

Dover Athletic

Dover Athletic earned a hard-fought point with a late equaliser in a disrupted 1–1 draw at Slough Town. The hosts started strongly, but Walker produced key saves and Nikaj cleared off the line to keep it level at the break. Slough took the lead on 68 minutes when Clarke’s strike was diverted goalwards by Makowski. Dover struggled to create clear chances but stayed in the contest. Their reward came on 85 minutes as Soares-Junior’s cross was turned into his own net by Oshilaja. Despite late pressure, neither side found a winner as Dover secured a valuable away point.

From the Management

“Another away trip next Saturday against Hampton. They’re obviously fighting for their lives, and we’ll need to be much more on it than we were against Slough to get anything from the game.”

Hampton & Richmond Borough

Hampton & Richmond Borough fell to a late 2–1 home defeat against Eastbourne Borough. The visitors started strongly, with George Alexander testing Marcus Dewhurst before Matthew Burgess tapped home early on. The Beavers struggled to respond in a quiet first half but improved after the break. Max Kretzschmar equalised with a glancing header following sustained pressure, and Ronan Silva twice went close to putting them ahead. However, against the run of play, Kingsley Anokye struck late to win it for Eastbourne. Hampton pushed for another equaliser, with Aaron Lacey going closest, but could not find a way through.

When the sides met in the reverse fixture, Dover Athletic staged a dramatic comeback to earn a 3–3 draw at the Megger Community Stadium. Hampton & Richmond raced into a two-goal lead through Craig Fasanmade, punishing defensive errors, before Ruben Soares-Junior pulled one back early in the second half. Harry Gardner quickly restored the visitors’ advantage, but Dover responded again as Soares-Junior set up Decarrey Sheriff to make it 3–2. With time running out, the Whites piled on pressure and were rewarded deep into stoppage time when Kenny Coker scrambled home a 96th-minute equaliser to seal a memorable point.

Report – Slough Town 1-1 Dover Athletic

Dover Athletic battled back to earn a point on the road as a late own goal cancelled out Slough Town’s second-half opener in a stop-start National League South encounter.

The Whites had to withstand early pressure from the hosts, who started brightly and forced a series of corners inside the opening exchanges. Mensah and Charles-Cook were called into action defensively, while Slough threatened through Makowski and Shakpoke without finding a breakthrough.

After a cagey opening, Dover began to settle. Sheriff won a free-kick in a promising position, but the game was repeatedly disrupted by injuries, including a lengthy stoppage involving Slough goalkeeper Desbois. The first half never truly found a rhythm, with both sides struggling to build momentum amid the interruptions.

The best chance of the half fell to Slough, but Walker produced an excellent save to deny Gidaree in a one-on-one. Nikaj then made a crucial goal-line clearance to preserve parity, ensuring the sides went into the break level after an extended period of added time.

Slough emerged strongly after the restart and again tested Walker, who made a superb double save early in the second half. The hosts continued to look the more threatening side, with Gidaree and Makowski both going close as Dover found it difficult to gain a foothold in the final third.

Sheriff registered Dover’s first notable effort after the break, directing a shot straight at Desbois from a Beadle long throw, but chances remained limited.

The breakthrough came on 68 minutes. A Slough corner was only partially cleared, falling to Clarke on the edge of the box. His strike was met by Makowski, whose touch appeared to divert the ball past Walker and into the net to give the hosts the lead.

Slough pushed for a second and came close through Drakes-Thomas, but Dover stayed in the contest. Substitutions introduced fresh energy, with Coker, Wilkinson and Baptiste all entering the fray as the Whites looked for a response. That response arrived five minutes from time. Soares-Junior delivered a dangerous cross into the near post, and under pressure, Oshilaja turned the ball into his own net to bring Dover level and spark late hope.

Despite five minutes of added time, neither side could find a winner, and the points were shared.

Dover now turn their attention to another away trip on Saturday, travelling to Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Up Next – Slough Town vs Dover Athletic

Dover Athletic travel to Enfield this weekend for a closely matched National League South encounter, with just one place separating the sides in the table. Enfield sit 15th, one position above the Whites in 16th, setting up a competitive clash with both teams looking to climb the standings. With fine margins likely to decide the outcome, Dover will be aiming to build on recent momentum and close the gap on their hosts.

Dover Athletic

Dover Athletic produced a clinical display to beat Hornchurch 4-1 at the Megger Community Stadium. Sheriff opened the scoring after good work from Soares-Junior, before Morias levelled with a fine strike. Sodje restored the lead with an excellent effort from a tight angle to give the Whites a 2-1 half-time advantage. Nikaj extended the lead from the penalty spot early in the second half after being brought down. Hornchurch applied late pressure, but Walker made key saves to preserve the advantage. Ruben sealed the win late on, capping a strong all-round performance and securing three deserved points for Dover.

From the Management

“We’re coming off a decent draw at Weston and a really good win against Hornchurch, so hopefully that puts us on a bit of a run and we can finish the season strongly. We’ve had some tough games and felt we deserved more points than we got, but overall we’ve competed well against the top sides all season. Now it’s about building on that and really pushing on to finish as strongly as possible.”

Slough Town

On Tuesday, Slough Town earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw away at AFC Totton in difficult conditions at the Snows Stadium. After a bright start, the Rebels fell behind just before half-time when Christie Ward finished from a corner. Totton began the second half strongly, but Adam Desbois produced key saves to keep Slough in the game. A quadruple substitution proved decisive, with Reiss Greenidge marking his first goal for the club in style, cutting in and firing home from a tight angle. Totton were later reduced to ten men, but neither side could find a winner as the points were shared.

Back in November, when the sides last met in the reverse fixture, Dover Athletic ran out 2–0 winners at Crabble. On a heavy pitch, chances were limited early on, with both sides testing the goalkeepers. Dover took control after the break, as George Nikaj reacted quickest to convert from close range and open the scoring. The Whites remained on top, with Mitch Walker producing key saves to preserve the lead. Substitute Kenny Coker sealed the win late on, finishing well to secure a fifth unbeaten game and another clean sheet.

Report – Dover Athletic 4-1 Hornchurch

Dover Athletic returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion at the Megger Community Stadium, producing a clinical display to see off Hornchurch 4-1 in front of 711 supporters.

An unchanged side from Saturday’s draw with Weston-super-Mare started brightly, and it didn’t take long for the Whites to impose themselves on proceedings. After an early Hornchurch effort was comfortably gathered by Walker, Dover began to find their rhythm.

The breakthrough arrived on 10 minutes. Soares-Junior was at the heart of it, driving down the flank and delivering a dangerous ball into the box. Nikaj rose well to meet it, and while his header caused problems, it was Sheriff who reacted quickest to finish from close range and give Dover a deserved lead.

Hornchurch responded with intent, looking sharp on the counter, and they found their equaliser on 20 minutes. A partially cleared free-kick fell to Morias on the right, who cut inside and curled a superb left-footed strike into the far corner from a tight angle.

The Whites, however, continued to look dangerous going forward, particularly down the left. Their persistence paid off on 32 minutes when Sodje produced a moment of real quality. Shaping to cross, he instead whipped an audacious effort into the top corner from a tight angle to restore Dover’s advantage.

Dover pushed for a third before the break, with Nikaj going close and the Hornchurch goalkeeper forced into action, but the Whites had to settle for a 2-1 lead at the interval after an entertaining first half.

The second half began with Hornchurch making a change, but it was Dover who seized control. On 53 minutes, Nikaj was brought down in the box, earning a penalty and a booking for the visitors. The forward stepped up himself and made no mistake from the spot, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 3-1.

From there, Dover managed the game well. Hornchurch saw more of the ball in spells but struggled to create clear chances, with Walker largely untroubled until a late period of pressure. When called upon, he delivered, producing a strong save to deny Morias and tipping another effort over the bar.

As the game wore on, the Whites showed resilience and composure, making changes to maintain energy levels. The result was put beyond doubt on 86 minutes when Soares-Junior was again involved, with the forward finishing to seal an impressive victory.

Late substitutions allowed Dover to see out the closing stages comfortably, and after five minutes of added time, the full-time whistle confirmed a deserved 4-1 win.

A sharp attacking display, combined with disciplined defending and key moments of quality, ensured all three points stayed at Crabble as the Whites now turn their attention to Saturday’s trip to Slough Town.

Dover Athletic: 1 Walker (C), 2 Charles-Cook, 16 Beadle, 21 Mensah, 15 Sodje, 6 Cocoracchio, 25 Hanson, 18 Gurung, 11 Sheriff, 14 Soares-Junior, 10 Nikaj

Subs: Baptiste, Matthews, Onu, Coker, Jallow, Wilkinson, Mampolo

Hornchurch: 1 Nasta, 3 Hare, 4 Welch, 5 Gibbs, 7 Rees, 8 Wraight (C), 9 Hearn, 11 Weston, 15 Phillips, 21 Bertram-Cooper, 27 Morias

Up Next – Dover Athletic v Hornchurch

Dover Athletic return to Crabble on Tuesday night to face a tough test against promotion-chasing Hornchurch, who currently sit third in the National League South. Despite their strong league position, Hornchurch arrive in mixed form, with just one win from their last five matches. Dover, meanwhile, remain 16th and continue to battle in a congested mid-to-lower table, having taken on six promotion contenders in their last seven fixtures. With another top side in town, the Whites will be looking to build on recent resilient performances and turn them into a valuable three points on home soil.

Dover Athletic

Dover Athletic earned a solid 1–1 draw against play-off chasing Weston-super-Mare at Crabble. After early pressure from the visitors, Dover took the lead on 16 minutes when Mensah reacted quickest to finish from a Beadle long throw. The advantage lasted just four minutes as Coulson equalised from the penalty spot after Dawes was brought down. Dover grew into the game, with Sheriff hitting the post before being flagged offside, while Weston pushed late on. Walker produced a key save and a stoppage-time goal was ruled out for a foul, ensuring the Whites claimed a deserved point.

From the Management

“We’re back at home again on Tuesday night against Hornchurch. It’s been a tough run for us, we’ve faced most of the top seven in our last few games, and this is another big test. They’re a strong side and showed that when they came here in the Trophy, although we were heavily depleted that day. They might not have picked up a result today, but we know the quality they’ve got. Results haven’t always gone our way recently, but performance-wise I think we’ve more than held our own against some of the best teams in the league.”

Hornchurch

On Saturday, Hornchurch endured a frustrating afternoon as they fell to a 1–0 defeat away at AFC Totton. The visitors struggled to find rhythm early on, with limited chances in a scrappy first half. The decisive moment came when Gibbs turned a dangerous cross into his own net, giving Totton a deserved lead. The second half saw Hornchurch under sustained pressure, with Nasta producing several strong saves to keep the score down. Although they improved late on and saw more of the ball, they couldn’t find a breakthrough. Tempers flared in a tense finish, but Hornchurch left empty-handed after a difficult contest.

The last time the sides met was in the FA Trophy in December, when Hornchurch ran out 4–1 winners at Crabble with a dominant display. They took control early and led through Gibbs before a Baptiste own goal made it 2–0 at the break. Hornchurch continued to dictate after half-time, with Balanta adding a third following good work from Morias. Dover briefly responded through Wilkinson, but any hopes of a comeback were ended when Sandat struck late to seal an emphatic win. It was a composed and clinical performance from Hornchurch, who controlled the game throughout to progress comfortably.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture, Dover Athletic earned a valuable 0–0 draw away at the then league leaders Hornchurch with a disciplined performance. The hosts started strongly, forcing early saves from Walker, but Dover grew into the game and created chances of their own, with Nikaj and Baptiste linking up well. Hornchurch came closest before the break when McQueen struck the woodwork. Dover pushed again in the second half and nearly snatched it as Mensah headed against the post. Despite late pressure from both sides, neither could find a breakthrough, and the Whites secured a hard-earned point against the division’s form team.

Report – Dover Athletic 1-1 Weston-super-Mare

Dover Athletic picked up a hard-earned point at Crabble as they were held to a 1–1 draw by play-off chasing Weston-super-Mare in an evenly contested National League South encounter.

Having beaten Weston 2–1 away earlier in the season, the Whites knew they were capable of troubling one of the division’s in-form sides, but it was the visitors who started on the front foot. Inside five minutes, Dawes burst down the left and delivered into the area, where Spokes fired over from distance, before Dewsbury twice went close as Weston pinned Dover back during a lively opening spell.

Despite that early pressure, Dover struck with their first real opportunity on 16 minutes. A long throw from Beadle caused problems in the Weston box, and when the ball dropped kindly, Mensah reacted quickest to guide a composed finish past Harris and give the Whites the lead.

The advantage, however, was short-lived. Just four minutes later, Weston were awarded a penalty after Dawes went down in the area under a challenge from Gurung. Coulson stepped up and confidently sent Walker the wrong way to restore parity at 1–1.

The remainder of the first half was competitive and at times feisty. Walker was called into action to deal with efforts from Dewsbury, while Dover began to grow into the game, with Nikaj and Soares-Junior linking up on the counter. A strong challenge on Soares-Junior saw Avery cautioned, and tensions briefly flared in stoppage time, but the sides went into the break level.

Dover started the second half brightly and thought they had come close to regaining the lead when Nikaj broke forward and picked out Sheriff, who struck the post, although the offside flag had already been raised. The Whites continued to look dangerous in transition, while maintaining a solid defensive shape to limit Weston’s attacking threat.

As the half wore on, Weston began to apply more sustained pressure. A dangerous delivery from Smith caused problems in the box, while appeals for a second penalty were waved away following a crowded set-piece. Dover remained disciplined, with Hanson and Gurung working hard in midfield to break up play.

Soares-Junior went close in the closing stages, firing over after good work from Sodje, but it was the visitors who pushed hardest for a winner. Walker produced an excellent save late on to tip away a powerful long-range effort, before a series of stoppage-time corners saw Weston briefly bundle the ball into the net, only for the referee to rule out the goal for a foul on the Dover goalkeeper.

Dover stood firm through five minutes of added time, with late substitutions Coker and Baptiste helping to see out the result, ensuring the points were shared.

It marks a positive return at home for the Whites, who showed resilience against one of the league’s top sides and made it four points taken from Weston across the season. Attention now quickly turns to Tuesday night, as Dover host Hornchurch under the lights at Crabble.

Dover Athletic: Walker, Charles-Cook, Beadle, Mensah, Sodje, Cocoracchio, Hanson, Gurung, Sheriff (Coker 82mins), Soares-Junior, Nikaj (Baptiste 82mins). Subs not used: Matthews, Onu, Jallow, Wilkinson, Mampolo.

Weston-super-Mare: Harris, Smith, Ellison, Avery, Coulson, Britton (Wilson 82mins), Bennett, Lewis, Spokes, Dewsbury (Pecover 71mins), Dawes (Robesten 71mins). Subs not used: Pope, Thompson.

Up Next – Dover Athletic vs Weston-super-Mare

Dover Athletic return to action at Crabble as they host play-off chasing Weston-super-Mare. The sides last met in Somerset where the Whites claimed an impressive 2–1 victory, Luca Cocoracchio’s late goal sealing the points and ending Weston’s unbeaten home run.

Weston arrive sixth in the table with 52 points from 29 games and in mixed but competitive form, continuing to keep themselves firmly in the promotion picture. Dover, meanwhile, sit 16th on 38 points. The Whites come into the game following defeat at Dorking Wanderers, while Saturday’s scheduled trip to Enfield Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Dover Athletic

Dover Athletic were beaten 2–0 at Meadowbank Stadium despite a competitive display. The Whites started brightly, with Nikaj forcing a fine save from Foulkes and Sheriff going close before the break in a scrappy first half. After the interval Dorking took the lead on 51 minutes when a free kick was flicked on and Camp finished powerfully. Dover responded through Sheriff and Nikaj but couldn’t find a leveller. Walker produced an excellent double save to keep the deficit at one, however Knight tapped in a late second. Baptiste struck the post late on, but the Whites left Surrey empty-handed.

Weston-super-Mare

Weston-super-Mare produced a free-flowing display to beat Eastbourne Borough 3–1 at The Optima Stadium. Despite falling behind when former Seagull Adam May finished from close range, the hosts responded well. Will Dawes capitalised on defensive confusion to level before Charlie Cummins calmly finished to give Weston a half-time lead. Just 25 seconds after the restart, Luke Coulson’s effort deflected in off Lachlan Byrd to extend the advantage. Weston controlled the second half, creating further chances while limiting Eastbourne’s threat. Cummins earned Man of the Match for a dominant midfield performance as the Seagulls bounced back with a deserved victory in front of 1,026 supporters.

In the reverse fixture, Dover Athletic ended Weston-super-Mare’s unbeaten home run with a 2–1 victory at The Optima Stadium, sealed by a late Luca Cocoracchio goal. Weston dominated early, but Walker produced key saves to keep the game goalless at half-time. Dover struck first after the break when a Matthews free-kick was turned into his own net under pressure. Wilson equalised on 65 minutes as Weston pushed forward and later had a goal ruled out for offside. Despite late pressure from the hosts, Dover won a stoppage-time corner and Cocoracchio reacted quickest in the scramble to secure a hard-earned away win.
