PREVIEW: BROMLEY V WHITES

Whites will be aiming to bounce back when they travel to Hayes Lane on Saturday.

Consecutive defeats to Dagenham & Redbridge and AFC Fylde have seen Chris Kinnear’s men drop to sixth in the standings.

However, his side are still within touching distance of top spot, sitting just two points behind current leaders Aldershot Town.

Neil Smith’s Bromley, unbeaten in three matches against Dover this season, may have some familiar faces on show.

Tyrone Sterling played 94 times for Dover over a three-year period while winger Adam Mekki featured once.

BROMLEY’S RECENT FORM

28/11/17 – BROMLEY 0-2 ALDERSHOT

The Lilywhites four-match league run came to an end on Tuesday night as ten-man Shots won 2-0 at Hayes Lane to climb to the summit of the National League table.

Bromley started the brighter in the rearranged fixture originally scheduled for 21st November, when an electrical fault stopped play.

But visiting keeper Lewis Ward was in fine form, denying both Luke Wanadio and Dan Johnson early on.

And it was Gary Waddock’s men who took the lead on 28 minutes as Bernard Mensah cut inside and smashed a 25-yard effort into the top corner.

Aldershot ended the half a man light as Adam McDonnell collected a second yellow card for dissent, but the away side were still able to secure the win on 68 minutes.

Matt McClure blocked Jordan Higgs’ clearance, allowing Scott Rendell to slot in the loose ball.

Brett Williams and Louis Dennis both went close for the home team, but a second booking for Higgs saw the defender see red in stoppage time.

PREVIOUS MEETING

17/10/17 – BROMLEY 3-0 WHITES

Whites were sent crashing out of the FA Cup after conceding three second-half goals at Hayes Lane on Tuesday evening.

Quick-fire strikes from Josh Rees and Adam Mekki had the hosts in control and sub Louis Dennis slotted home in injury time to seal the win.

Chris Kinnear’s men were dealt a further blow as Giancarlo Gallifuoco and Josh Passley were forced off at half-time with injuries.

After the restart, Ryan Bird was on hand to clear Jack Holland’s bullet header off the line as Bromley forced a number of corners.

And the home side did not have to wait much longer to make a set piece count.

Frankie Sutherland’s 70th minute corner was directed into the top corner by Rees, in-spite of visiting stopper Mitch Walker’s best efforts to keep the ball out.

Mekki grabbed his side’s second three minutes later, latching onto Holland’s pass and after evading Connor Essam’s challenge, curled in off the crossbar.

Bird headed Pinnock’s free kick at Gregory and with time running out, Neil Smith’s side sealed the win thanks to substitute Dennis.

The attacker exchanged passes with Rees and slotted past Walker to confirm their first round tie at League One Rochdale.
