Dover defender Dean Readings will be out of action for up to two months after having his ankle broken in this afternoon’s win over Grantham Town at the Hoverspeed Stadium.
Readings was the victim of a two-footed challenge from behind by Grantham forward Dale Watkins early in the second half. He was carried from the pitch on a stretcher and left the ground in an ambulance before full-time. Watkins’ foul was punished only by a free-kick.
A few days ago the injury situation was starting to look much better for Whites’ manager Richard Langley but now he is likely to be without key players over the crucial Christmas and New Year period.
As well as Readings’ injury and Simon Glover’s broken wrist, Jamie Day also limped off the pitch in this afternoon’s match with a leg injury, the seriousness of which is not known at present.
