VOLUNTEERS SPRUCE UP CRABBLE

Dover Athletic would like to place on record our sincere thanks to those volunteers who gave up their weekend to come and get Crabble ready for the new season.

We’d also like to thank Luke Hudson and his team from Luda Home and Garden Maintenance for spending the weekend using their professional expertise and equipment around the ground – thank you!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Dover Athletic Football Club would like to express its gratitude to those fans who have purchased either season tickets, the new 2021/22 season commemorative Supporters Shirt, or both this week.

The response to both has been simply stunning and your commitment to support us during this challenging and unprecedented time means so very much to us.

Chairman Jim Parmenter said: “We’ve been absolutely delighted with the support we are getting – it has been brilliant.

“It is a testament to the fantastic support of the Black and White Army and their desire to back their Club, and we thank everyone who has purchased the items already.

“The number of shirts that have been snapped up since they went on sale on Wednesday has been outstanding and hopefully they continue to sell as well as they are.

“The money raised from each shirt sale will go a long way in helping our cause.”

Manager Andy Hessenthaler and the names his staff and players will also now be sublimated into the fabric of the shirt alongside the fans.

Hessenthaler said: “We are all in this together – my staff, my players, the fans … the whole club – so we’ve bought into this fantastic concept.

“We really have got to stick together and support each other on the pitch and on the terraces, so that’s what this shirt is all about – we’re in, are you?

The exclusive one-off shirt is only available via pre-order for £50 from the club shop and will not be available for general purchase.

Supporters wanting to see their name featured on the shirt will have a strict deadline of 5pm on July 17 to secure their place in our club history.

Unfortunately, due to manufacturing timelines, we are unable to accept any orders received after this deadline.

The shirt is manufactured by local company, Ambition Sport, and is a regular fit with adult sizes from small to 4XL available.

The shirts will be available three to four weeks after the deadline.

GOODMAN IS LATEST SIGNING

Dover Athletic manager Andy Hessenthaler has moved to bolster his defensive options with the signing of former Millwall defenderJake Goodman.

The 6ft 2in centre-back, who signed professional terms with the Lions in 2012,  spent last season with National League South club Ebbsfleet United after making the move across Kent from Bromley.

The 27-year-old arrives at Crabble with plenty of National League experience to his name, having played a combined total of 117 games during time with Luton Town (loan), Aldershot Town (loan), Braintree Town, Maidenhead United, and Bromley.

He’s also played League Two football for AFC Wimbledon while on loan from Millwall.

Welcome to the club, Jake!

If you would like to sponsor Jake’s playing shirts for the 2021/22 season then please contact our Sponsor Relations Manager Richard Harvey at [email protected]

MILLER ON A MISSION

Ricky Miller is back and the striker means business.

The 32-year-old re-joined the club last week, but he’s not come back for sentimental reasons.

He’s come ‘home’ to do what he’s done in the past and that’s to score goals.

Miller, who scored 68 goals in 101 appearances for us previously, said: “I’ve certainly not come back for the sake of it and I want the supporters to know that.

“Don’t get me wrong, it will be absolutely fantastic to see all my old friends and the fans again, but I’m here because I know I can still do the business and I can score goals.

“I can assure everyone that I’ve got a lot of life left in me yet and believe me, – I’ve still got a lot of ambitions I want to achieve and I want to do them with Dover!

“Yes, it’s going to be tough chalking off that 12-point deduction, and people will write us off.

“We’ll be the underdogs but I have no doubt we’ll certainly prove the doubters wrong.

“We’ll be giving it our all on the pitch and we’ll need our fans to get right behind us from the off because we are all in this together, so come on. let’s do this!

As for the move back to Crabble, four years after he left for League One Peterborough United, Miller said it was a journey he wanted to happen again.

“I have wanted to come back for a long time, but the time wasn’t right – now it is.

“It has been a long hard journey for me of late as people don’t see the sacrifices you make when you are a full-time professional footballer.

“When you’re happy at home, you’re happy on the pitch – I feel really settled now, and the move back to Dover ticks all the right boxes for me.

“I’ve always felt the love here and it was the happiest I’ve ever been in my career here  – that’s why I played my best football.

“I am so excited to be back and I cannot wait to get going!
