Story so far…
What a difference a year makes! Andy Hessenthaler has been a breath of fresh air since arriving back at the Whites. Even two defeats can’t take the gloss off has generally been a superb start.
Hess says…
Boss Andy Hessenthaler said his side “aren’t used to losing football matches at the moment” after Saturday’s defeat to Torquay gave them just their third defeat in 16 games. That being said, he’s challenged his side to pick themselves up and respond on Saturday.
Who is Pavey-ing the way?
You can’t talk about Dover without mentioning Alfie Pavey. Of all the business done at the Crabble in the close season, keeping hold of their star striker could be their best work.
Stat attack…
League position: 7th
Home goals for: 4
Away goals for: 3
Home goals against: 5
Away goals against: 1
Top scorer: Alfie Pavey (3)
Supporters say…
Fan @SafetySouthEast is loving the new season. “Best squad we ever have had,” he wrote on Twitter.
“Full speed ahead for #thehessexpress,” wrote @DanielBishop295.
On the horizon…
Sutton are next in line for Dover with the pair having similar starts to the season. Sutton are going under the radar with new boss Matt Gray. The U’s have taken two points from their opening two home games however, something that might perk the Whites up.
Their one to watch….
Harry Beautyman has hit the ground running this season. He’s netted three goals this season and is one of the best at picking tough defensive locks.
Last time out….
Dover were convincing winners at home last time on the final day of the season – Stuart Lewis opened the scoring before Inih Effiong and Josh Passley struck in the second-half to round things off.
