PREVIEW: WHITES VS BRAINTREE TOWN

PREVIEW: SOLIHULL MOORS VS WHITES

DOVER will be looking to get back to winning ways in the National League when we make a history making trip to the West Midlands on Saturday.

Whites, who lost 4-1 against Tranmere Rovers at Crabble in their last league outing, face competition new boys Solihull Moors for the first time.

And there will be a couple of new faces in both camps for the clash at Damson Park.

Dover boss Chris Kinnearƒ??s squad will include new signing Joe Healy for the first time following the midfielderƒ??s arrival from Maidstone United.

Kinnear will also have a new counterpart ƒ?? Keith Bertschin.

The former Birmingham City striker was named as Solihullƒ??s new head coach on Wednesday after manager Marcus Bignot left for League Two side Grimsby Town.

The 60-year-old Bertschin has previously worked as now Aston Villa boss Steve Bruceƒ??s assistant over a nine-year period in the top two tiers of English football at Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic, Sunderland and Hull City.

Bertschinƒ??s side will start the game 15th on the National League ladder, eight places and nine points behind Kinnearƒ??s.

PREVIEW: WHITES VS CAMBRIDGE UNITED

DOVERƒ??S Emirates FA Cup campaign continues at Crabble on Thursday with the first round replay clash against League Two Cambridge United at 7.45pm.

The first game between the sides ended 1-1 at the Cambs Glass Stadium on November 5th.

The Uƒ??s led 1-0 at half-time before Ricky Miller equalised eight minutes from time.

A home tie against League One side and former FA Cup winners Coventry City on December 4 is the carrot for tonightƒ??s victors.

But Dover boss Chris Kinnear is not looking that far ahead.

He said: ƒ??I have never been one to think about what be and I am not about to change.

ƒ??Our focus is only on playing Cambridge and nothing else matters.

ƒ??We take it game by game and thatƒ??s the way we always will.ƒ?

As for the game, which will be played live on BT Sport, Kinnear says his side wonƒ??t be doing anything different to normal.

He said: ƒ??We may be playing a Football League team and doing on live TV, but our preparation and the way we approach it wonƒ??t be any different any other game we play.

ƒ??Weƒ??ll be going all out to win, something we do in every game regardless of who we are playing against.ƒ?

*BS*WHAT IS CAMBRIDGE BOSS SHAUN DERRY SAYING?*BF*

He told the Cambridge News that he felt it would be an intriguing game as both sides knew what the other was all about from their first meeting.

But he is optimistic United, who will still be without Joe Pigott due to concussion, can build on their display from last Saturdayƒ??s 3-1 win at Crawley in Sky Bet League Two.

Derry said: ƒ??Itƒ??s one thing going to watch Dover in the flesh and watching all the videos, but itƒ??s only when you come up against certain players that you realise just what they can produce and itƒ??s the flip side for both teams.

ƒ??Weƒ??ve both had a look at each other, weƒ??ve both sussed each other out and theyƒ??d have gone back and looked at all the positives they produced last Saturday (a 3-2 win at Solihull) and weƒ??ve done the same.

ƒ??Itƒ??s a different type of game. Weƒ??re away from home, the expectation level is on their shoulders to produce a performance as well, but we just need to concentrate on what we do.

ƒ??We want to go through to round two. Itƒ??s a great proposition, Coventry at home for whoever gets through this round.

ƒ??Everyone looks for a banana skin and we have to make sure weƒ??re not one of them.ƒ?

*BS*CAMBRIDGE UNITEDƒ??S RECENT FORM*BF*

Since the draw with Dover, the Uƒ??s lost 2-0 at home to Scunthorpe in the Football League Trophy.

They bounced back from that defeat with a 3-1 win at Crawley in Sky Bet League Two last Saturday.

Greg Taylor, Uche Ikpeazu and Luke Berry scored the goals.

*BS*HITMEN*BF*

Whites’ top scorer this season is Ricky Miller with 21 while Cambridgeƒ??s leading man is Luke Berry with six.

*BS*DOVER TEAM NEWS*BF*

Leyton Orient loanee Sammy Moore and new signing Joe Healy are both not available while defender Jack Parkinson will be missing through suspension after his red card at Solihull Moors on Saturday.

Sam Magri is back from international duty with Malta after missing the 3-2 win in the West Midlands.

MILLER ALL WHITE

Contrary to suggestions in the media, Dover Athletic confirm Ricky Miller is not for sale.

It has been reported that National League side Forest Green Rovers are attempting to prise Miller away from the club.

Chairman Jim Parmenter said: “Ricky is not for sale. He is under contract at this club and is a big part of our push to promotion this season.

“We would not consider selling Ricky to a club at our level and believe if and when he finally moves on it will be to a big club with good league pedigree.”

WHITES ON TV

WHITES ON TV

BTSport, the television broadcast partner of The National League, has announced a further six LIVE matches they will be screening from the Vanarama National in December and January to round off 2016 and welcome 2017.

And Dover will feature in two of them, the trip to Maidstone on January 1 and the clash at Lincoln City on Friday, January 20.

The Maidstone game will kick-off at 6pm after being scheduled to start at 3pm while the Lincoln game will get underway at 7.45pm.

The clash with the Imps was originally scheduled for a 3pm start on Saturday, January 21st but the fixture has been moved forward a day to accommodate the television coverage.

PREVIEW: WHITES VS TRANMERE ROVERS

PREVIEW: WHITES VS TRANMERE ROVERS

TRANMERE Rovers have a perfect National League record under new boss Micky Mellon.

Saturday’s visitors to Crabble have won three consecutive league games since Mellon replaced Gary Brabin earlier this month and they have done it without conceding a goal.

You can be sure Dover Athletic will be aiming to end that impressive statistic when the teams meet for only the third time ever.

And Whites have their own impressive record against the Birkenhead club – they have not lost against them!

Ricky Miller scored the only goal of the game when Dover won at Prenton Park last October while honours finished even in the corresponding game last season after it ended goalless.

Tranmere will start the game two places and two points above Dover.

Dover boss Chris Kinnear is looking forward to the showdown.

Kinnear said: “They are an unbelievably big club who have shown their ambitions by investing in their squad and a new manager.

“Saying that, we are also just as ambitious and are only just behind them on the table.

“It is going to be a tough game but one me and the lads are all really looking forward to.”

*BS*WHAT IS MELLON SAYING ABOUT DOVER?*BF*

“Dover are a very capable side, we know the threats that they possess so it should make for another tough game,” the former Shrewsbury Town boss said on the Tranmere website.

And he is not about to use the long trip south as an excuse.

“We’re not going to have any excuses, we will go down and prepare properly,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“We will leave the day before. We will do all the preparation we need to do.

“We won’t be looking for any excuses to do with long journeys or anything that will affect our performance.

“We know we’re going down there for another really tough game.

“They’re all tough in this league as everyone is now seeing.

“We will go down there and answer the questions the game ask us on the day and try to bring the three points back again.”

*BS*TRANMERE’S RECENT FORM*BF*

They beat visiting North Ferriby United on Tuesday after winning 3-0 at Solihull Moors on Saturday.

Jake Kirby (two) and James Norwood scored the goals.

Norwood will miss the game at Crabble through suspension after he received a straight red card for putting his hand in the face of North Ferriby United goalkeeper Rory Watson towards the end of the game on Tuesday.

Seven days earlier, Tranmere bowed out of the FA Cup after losing 2-1 at Barrow.

PREVIEW: BROMLEY V WHITES

PREVIEW: BROMLEY V WHITES

DOVER will be looking to build on their impressive performance against Braintree when they make the short trip to Bromley on Tuesday.

Whites crushed the Essex side 6-1 but boss Chris Kinnear is looking forward, not back.

He said: “It’s all about Bromley now, not what happened on Saturday.

“We’ve got to focus on the job at hand and do our best to beat Bromley – nothing else matters.”

Bromley will start the game 17th on the National League ladder, eight places and 10 points behind Kinnear’s side.

But Whites are still to win at Hayes Lane in non-league’s top-flight.

Honours finished even between the sides at the venue last season after Bromley scored an equaliser two minutes from time to earn a 1-1 draw.

Nicky Deverdics had put Whites ahead in the 70th minute before Bradley Goldberg saw his penalty saved by Mitch Walker but he scored from the rebound.

*BS*BROMLEY’S RECENT FORM *BF*
