PREVIEW: WHITES VS BRAINTREE TOWN

PREVIEW: WHITES VS BARROW AFC

Dover will be aiming to secure a third consecutive Vanarama National League win when they face Barrow AFC at Crabble on Saturday.

Boss Chris Kinnear’s side moved up to 10th after an impressive 4-2 win at Eastleigh on Tuesday night, the triumph coming hot on the heels of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat of North Ferriby United.

Now Whites have a treble in their sights, but the Cumbrian visitors will have their own target – to win on the road for the first time this season.

Barrow AFC have drawn at Torquay and lost at leaders Tranmere on their travels so far.

But Crabble was not a happy hunting ground for the Bluebirds last season – they lost 3-1 with all three goals scored by players who will feature on Saturday, Ricky Modeste, Richard Orlu and Ricky Miller.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING ABOUT DOVER

Barrow AFC boss Paul Cox is under no illusions about the challenge facing his side as they look to build on Tuesday’s 3-2 home win against Chester, a win that leaves them 12th and level on points with Whites.

Cox said: “It’s going to be another tough game. It’s a long trip, but if we go with a positive mind-set and try and play on the front foot, we’ll see what happens.

“Chris (Kinnear) has done a great job down there, got them into the play-offs last year and I’m sure they’ll have aspirations to get there again this year, at the very least. They are going to be one of the sides who will affect the top six in the division.”

TEAM NEWS

Dover have a clean bill of health following the win at Eastleigh and the match-day squad will be bolstered by the loan signing of midfielder Sammy Moore from Leyton Orient on Wednesday.

Moore spent two years at Crabble between 2008 and 2010, scoring 11 goals in 56 appearances, before leaving for AFC Wimbledon.

For Barrow AFC, full-back Shaun Beeley is the major injury doubt after aggravating a groin problem in the win over Chester.

Danny Livesey (knee) and Paul Turnbull (ankle) should both be back in contention after missing the Chester game.

Shrewsbury Town central defender Dom Smith also joined on loan on Friday and will make the trip south.

STAT ATTACK

Striker Ross Lafayette will be aiming to find the back of the net for Whites for the third consecutive game after arriving from Eastleigh.

Lafayette and Ricky Miller are Dover’s leading scorers with two each, two behind the league’s leading hitmen, James Norwood (Tranmere) and Matt Rhead (Lincoln).

Jordan Williams is the leading man for Barrow AFC with two after his double against Chester on Tuesday.

MOORE IN AT DOVER

MOORE IN AT DOVER

DOVER have bolstered their midfield ranks with the loan signing of Leyton Orient’s Sammy Moore.

Moore, who is here until January, will go straight into the squad to face Barrow at Crabble on Saturday.

The 28-year-old Deal-born Moore needs no introduction to Whites fans, spending two years with the club between 2008 and 2010.

He scored 11 goals in 56 appearances before joining AFC Wimbledon.
Moore spent five seasons with the Dons, helping them earn promotion from the Conference Premier.

While there, Moore made over 150 appearances and won the Player of the Year award in the 2011-12 season. He signed for League Two Orient in June 2015 and has made almost 30 appearances, scoring twice.

Moore made a recent appearance at Crabble, coming on as a second half substitute in the Orient’s 2-0 defeat in the pre-season friendly against Chris Kinnear’s side last month. Moore came through the youth ranks at Ipswich Town and during his time with the Tractor Boys spent a period on loan at Brentford.

He joined then Conference Premier side Stevenage Borough in 2008, before linking up with Dover.

Welcome back, Sammy!

MOORE UNFINISHED BUSINESS

MOORE UNFINISHED BUSINESS

SAMMY MOORE says he has “unfinished business” at Dover Athletic – and that is why he has returned to the club on-loan from Leyton Orient.

Box-to-box midfielder “Mooro”, 28, is back at Crabble until at least January with the hope that the move could become permanent if all parties are happy.

The former Dover College student – who now lives in Hythe with his partner Naomi and their nine-month-old daughter Betsy – will be available for selection this Saturday as the Whites entertain Barrow.

Speaking in an interview with Dover fan and The Sun football journalist Justin Allen, he said: “I’m delighted to be back at Dover. I had some good times here from 2008 to 2010 where we won promotion from the Ryman Premier into the Conference South and lost in the play-offs for the Conference National a year later.

“It’s a club close to my heart. I live down the road so have always followed Dover – since leaving and before because my brother, Jason, used to play here.

“There are still some familar faces around the club. Robin Hastie – the kitman; Frank Clarke – the secretary; and obviously the chairman Jim Parmenter as well. I know how the club works and hoping we can get the club into the Football League.”

He added: “I do feel I have unfinished business at the club. We had just missed out on getting to the Conference National when I was here last time – but now we have a chance to take this club into the Football League – and if I was able to be part of that, well, it would be the highlight of my career because Dover Athletic is special to me.”

Moore – who was poached by Chelsea as a 14-year-old from Charlton for £32,000 – has gone on to play more than 200 games in the Football League for Ipswich, Brentford, AFC Wimbledon and Orient.

And Dover beat the competition of several other clubs in the Football League for his signature.

The midfielder hopes the fans turn up in droves on Saturday to be the team’s “12th man” – and he urged: “Please come along and bring a friend too. This club is ambitious, a new stand is going up and there are good things happening.

“I’ve not come here to be mid-table, I’m thinking only of promotion.”

PREVIEW: EASTLEIGH VS WHITES

PREVIEW: EASTLEIGH VS WHITES

Ross Lafayette scored for Eastleigh against Dover at the Silverlake Stadium last season.

Now the striker will be aiming to find the back of the net for Whites against the Spitfires when the two sides clash in the fourth games of their Vanarama National League campaigns.

Boss Chris Kinnear’s side won 5-2 at the venue last time out with doubles from Ricky Miller and Nicky Deverdics while Tom Murphy scored the other in the rout.

Deverdics (Hartlepool) and Murphy (Maidstone) have since departed while Miller should come back into the squad after missing Saturday’s 2-0 win against North Ferriby United through suspension.

Lafayette replaced Miller against the newcomers and made an immediate impression on his first start for the side following his appearance as a second half substitute against Boreham Wood in midweek.

The 30-year-old set up Moses Emmanuel to score the opener before securing the win with a spectacular curling effort.

Lafayette scored eight goals in 38 appearances for Eastleigh after joining from Luton Town in the summer of 2015.

While Whites claimed the three points in Hampshire last season, Eastleigh won the return contest 2-1 at Crabble thanks to James Constable’s double while Ricky Modeste was on target for Dover.

THE STORY SO FAR

Dover won for the first time this season after beating North Ferriby on Saturday while Eastleigh suffered their first defeat of the season at Tranmere Rovers.

Top-of-the-table Tranmere won 2-1 after James Norwood scored the winner in the final seconds of stoppage time at Prenton Park.

Those results see both sides on four points with Eastleigh 12th and two places ahead of Dover on goal difference.

TEAM NEWS

Ricky Miller is available again for Dover after his one-game suspension while Richard Orlu has recovered from illness which saw him sit out Saturday’s game.

For Eastleigh, on-loan Arsenal goalkeeper Ryan Huddart is set to make his second appearance after replacing former Dover stopper Ross Flitney at Tranmere.

Flitney will not have fond memories of tonight’s corresponding fixture – he was sent off.
