BRUNDLE TAKES THE HOTSEAT

We welcome our new gaffer to Crabble.

Mitch Brundle has put pen to paper on an 18 month minimum contract with the option of an extension. The player turned manager will be the youngest coach in the dugouts in the UK, narrowly pipping ex Tottenham Hotspur interim manager Ryan Mason, who was 29 when asked to step in. The 28 year old is already looking forward to getting started and has plans in full swing after taking the role on a temporary basis following the departure of the outward departing Andy Hessenthaler.

The new gaffer said ‘I am over the moon to be given this opportunity. I love this club and have always given everything both on and off the pitch. The football club means a lot to me and I am looking forward at putting my own stamp on things.’

The chairman was delighted with the appointment and was looking forward to the club going in a different direction on the pitch. ‘Mitch has done really well since he took the reigns. The teams performances in the last three games show that we will have a bright future under his leadership along with Mike Sandmann.’

Football doesn’t stand still for long and with the ink hardly dry on his contract, our new manager has two games in the space of five days to prepare for. First up a Kent Cup match away to Chatham Town followed by a home game at Crabble against high flying Havant & Waterlooville.

Good luck Mitch. Onwards and upwards.

COME ON YOU WRITES

We would like to welcome another addition to the team, our new Media Officer, John McNicoll.

John was born and raised in Dover and has supported the club from near and far including a stint coaching the youth teams during the last decade. He is a keen writer and a published author of two books, An Ode to Four Four Two and An Ode to The Chosen Few, as well as appearing on many other footballing websites. John will take care of the social media side of things as well as keeping the website updated with all the relevant fixtures, tables, news, and so on.

‘Coming to work for Dover Athletic is an exciting opportunity and one that I couldn’t really turn down. I’m looking forward to getting started and trying to make sure that the fans are engaged and feel as close to the action as ever. We want to show all the hard work we are doing both on and off the pitch. Come on You Whites!

For any media enquiries contact John directly on [email protected]

Welcome to Crabble, John.

IT’LL BE ALL WHITE ON THE NIGHT

Whites welcome new kit man Bradley to the team.

A new year and a new era behind the scenes at Crabble with the outward departing Richard Harvey leaving a Persil sized hole to fill but as the old saying goes out with the old and in with the new. The Chairman had spoke on record at the gratitude towards Richard and the job he had done but now it’s time for Bradley Haywood to join the team.

Bradley is a family man with a 12 year old daughter called Olivia and when he is not sorting through muddy shorts, he can be found on the golf course. Having worked for over a decade in retail, Bradley was excited to join the club and realise his dream of working in football.

‘Being brought up with football and having such a passion for it, words can’t describe how excited I am for the challenge ahead. My first day was a dream for me, bar the result. I’m always happy to have a chat and get to know the supporters more so if you ever see me feel free to stop me for a chat. Come on Dover.’

Bradley signs off with a quite poignant quote. ‘Nobody who ever gave his best regretted it.’

Welcome to Crabble, Bradley.

GOODBYE RICHARD AND THANK YOU

Dover Athletic Football Club has sadly said goodbye to Richard Harvey this week.

Richard first joined the media team as a volunteer in 2015 before taking over the kit manager role after Robin Hastie left ahead of the 2017/18 season.

He’s continued to look after both media, including being the editor of our matchday programme, and the kit since then.

Chairman Jim Parmenter said: “First and foremost, I’d like to say that Richard has worked tirelessly over many years for us, dedicating himself to the roles he plays and for the good of the club.

“He’s immensely respected and well-liked, not only at Dover Athletic but at many clubs around the country.

“I’d personally, and I know plenty of other people would too like to thank him for his outstanding commitment to us.

“We are all really sad to see him go but recognise he can leave with his head held high for a job done extremely well.

“There is no doubt that Richard, with who I had a good relationship with, will be hugely missed by everyone who knows him and I wish him well in whatever the future holds for him.

“He will always be welcome back at Crabble.”

Richard said:” The decision to leave was a hard one but it’s time for a change and the Chairman understands that and I thank him for that.

“I leave with plenty of memories and lots of friendships have been made at Crabble as well at clubs up and down the country, and I will always feel privileged to have worked for Dover Athletic.

“I really would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported me along the way and I would like to thank the managers, coaches, players, staff, and fans who have shared the journey with me.

“I wish you all the very best for the remainder of the season and the future.”

HESS LEAVES CRABBLE

Dover Athletic Football Club can today confirm the departure of manager Andy Hessenthaler, who leaves the club by mutual consent after his contract was cancelled, with immediate effect.

Hessenthaler returned to Crabble for a second time 15 games into the 2018/19 campaign following the departure of Chris Kinnear.

Mitch Brundle and Mike Sandmann will take joint interim charge of the team for the next few games, starting at Hungerford Town on Saturday, whilst we consider a more permanent structure for the future.

Chairman Jim Parmenter said: “Andy has given terrific service to the Club and assisted me in navigating some very difficult times.

“I wish to place on record our gratitude for his efforts, understanding, and hard work during his time at the Club.

“He is a man of integrity and decency, and I am sure he will be successful in his next role.

“We remain good friends and Hess will be welcome at Crabble at any time.”

Everyone at the club wishes Andy all the very best for the future.
