Dover Athletic return to Crabble on Tuesday night to face Chelmsford City in National League South action. Jake Leberl’s side, currently 13th, will look to respond after Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Worthing, while the visitors sit just two places and three points behind in 15th following a narrow 2-1 loss at AFC Totton. With both teams keen to climb the table, a competitive midweek clash awaits under the lights.
Dover Athletic
Dover Athletic’s were beaten away from home in a 3-1 defeat at Worthing on Saturday. Joe Cook’s superb 27th-minute strike put the hosts ahead before Decarrey Sheriff volleyed home to level. Just before half-time, Razzaq Coleman De Graft restored Worthing’s lead with a composed finish. Dover battled hard after the break, with Sheriff seeing an effort cleared off the line, but Brad Dolaghan’s close-range tap-in on 76 minutes sealed the points for the hosts. The Whites showed spirit but were punished by Worthing’s clinical finishing.
From the Management
“Chelmsford on Tuesday night will be another tough test. They’re a club with strong resources and plenty of experience, but we won’t be afraid of anyone.”
Chelmsford City
Chelmsford City fell to a 2-1 defeat at AFC Totton despite a spirited display at the Snows Stadium. The hosts struck early when Tony Lee headed home from a corner inside three minutes, but City hit back almost immediately as Lyle Taylor nodded in his sixth goal in as many games. Totton regained the lead in the 20th minute when Christie Ward fired in from the edge of the area after Chris Haigh’s initial save. City pushed for an equaliser after the break, with Jason Adigun and Kian Ronan both denied by debutant goalkeeper Matt Hall, but Totton held firm for the win.
Chelmsford City have undergone a major rebuild under new manager Angelo Harrop, who arrived after guiding Braintree to promotion in 2024. Backed by chairman Spencer Gore, Harrop has reshaped the squad to push beyond last season’s 11th-place finish. Key additions include goalkeeper Chris Haigh, defenders David Longe-King and Kian Ronan, midfielder Tom Lapslie, and striker Jack Barham from Aldershot. He’s joined in attack by winger Josh Hedges and returning veteran Ricky Holmes.
