Up Next – Easter Double Header

Match Preview by Fred Deveson

It’s a double header this easter weekend for Dover Athletic who face Welling in South London on Friday and Chelmsford on Monday 1st April at Crabble.

This coming game on Friday is potentially going to be a fatal one, as if Dover fail to win, they are officially relegated to the 7th tier.

There is no doubt, however, that no matter what happens the Whites will not go down without a fight and will be looking to take some positive results and performances into the new season.

Welling have also been in a relegation battle of their own this season, struggling near the bottom of the table for a lot of the campaign.

The two sides drew 2-2 at Crabble earlier in the season, with a late goal from Naylor getting a point for the Whites.

Since then, Welling have pulled themselves up the table and currently sit in 18th with a 5 point cushion over Dartford in 21st.

They have only lost 2 of their last 9 and have won 4 of those. The hosts for Friday have turned it on when most needed this season.

As for Monday’s opponents, they are in a much healthier position then Welling and Dover. Chelmsford sit in 2nd place behind leaders Yeovil Town.

The Essex based team have won 7 of their last 10, only losing to Maidstone and Worthing on this run and drawing to Farnborough. They have scored ten in their 4 games and will be looking to extend their goalscoring run this weekend as they face Dartford.

It is set to be a tough set of games for the Whites this Easter, but Dover will be wanting to put out some good performances to end this season.
