WHITES REVEAL KIT DEAL

WHITES REVEAL KIT DEAL

Dover Athletic are pleased to announce a new kit supply partnership with Genesis Sports.

The one year deal includes the supply of PUMA branded kit and training wear for the 2015-16 season.

Whites’ Chairman, Jim Parmenter, said “We’ve revisited our kit supply strategy several times over the past few years, but we believe we have finally found a kit partner capable of delivering high quality kit and sportswear for the club and its supporters, in a timely and professional manner.

We look forward to working with Genesis Sports this coming season and look forward to building a long and prosperous relationship.”

Alan Scott, Business Development Manager for Genesis, said “Dover Athletic FC has had a great first season back in the Football Conference National. With exciting plans both on and off the pitch, we’re delighted the club has given us the opportunity to supply their kit and training wear for next season’s campaign in the National Football League, as it will be known. PUMA recognise the importance of the non-league game and to have Dover Athletic as one of our first partner clubs is a massive boost to our new venture.”

Three new kits have been produced for the first team and all shirts will be available as replicas to purchase via the club shop (dafcdirect.com).

The kit will also be worn by our Academy side and will be available to all of our youth and community teams.

There will be an official kit launch next soon.

RAGGETT CALLED UP

RAGGETT CALLED UP

*BS*The club are pleased to learn that Sean Raggett has been called up by England C manager Paul Fairclough for the side’s fixture against the Republic of Ireland Under 21 side in June.*BF*

Raggett will join up with the England C side ahead of the match, which takes place in Galway on Monday June 1st.

Fairclough said: “It will be terrific to renew acquaintances’ for the forthcoming encounter in Galway. We will, no doubt, face a very talented Under 21 side which will be a mix of League of Ireland players together with those playing in England.

“This game provides me with an opportunity to plan for the forthcoming ICT games which will begin later in the year. Gone are the players who served us well over the last couple of years and I have selected a squad drawn from Step one, two, three and four of the National League System.

“I believe in giving young talented players an opportunity to represent their Country regardless of the level they are currently playing. There will be as many as ten players in the 16 man squad who will make their International debut.

“It will be a proud moment for the players, their families and me.”

The England C side gives non-league players an opportunity to represent their country and Raggett is the third Whites player to be called up to the squad in recent times, following in the footsteps of goalkeeper Mitch Walker and striker Stefan Payne.

Full squad list:

Calum KITSCHA (gk) – Hayes & Yeading United FC

ACADEMY SEASON REPORT

*BS*The club’s Academy enjoyed another successful season, with Mike Sandmann providing an end of season report here – including details of one player who has accepted a scholarship to play in the United States.*BF*

The Academy finished the Conference Youth League in 2nd place a point behind Bromley and losing the least amount of games in the division.

Mike Sandmann, the Academy Manager, said: “It has been another extremely successful season in terms of development as individual players and as a team. As an Academy we never set out to win leagues as our season’s goal but to improve and learn from each game and we have certainly done that.

“Performance is something I always judge the players on which 9 times out of 10 comes hand in hand with results which keeps the players happy.

“The work ethic from the group of players has been excellent and a real pleasure to work with this year. We make sure that our hard work on the training pitch is implemented in the matches and players have the freedom to express themselves within a philosophy the Academy has installed.

“The Academy has seen 7 players involved with the first team in Kent Senior Cup matches which has resulted in a number of them being invited into pre-season by the Manager. I am hoping they can prove their worth and earn themselves a contract with it.

“Joshua Donnelly has also been offered a full scholarship to The University of Florida which is excellent news and credit to his hard work. We have also had players representing Kent on a regular basis which once again shows the talent we have within our Academy.

“We have a good group of players coming into the Academy in August to join up with our current 1st years, which I am looking forward to working with and monitoring their progress over the 2 years. The interest for the Academy gets stronger and stronger each year, showing that we have a great track record for developing players.

“The first team’s success this year has shown once again proved Dover Athletic is a massive club and I am pleased young players want to be a part of that.

The Academy plays their matches on Wednesday afternoons at Crabble and would love to see as many of you come and support them. All details for matches are posted via their twitter page – @DoverFCAcademy

ACADEMY PLAYER USA BOUND

ACADEMY PLAYER USA BOUND

*BS*Dover Athletic FC Academy player and Abbey School student, Joshua Donnelly, has accepted a full scholarship to The Eastern Florida State University.*BF*

JJ will be studying Sports Coaching/ Science at the Florida University whilst playing Football (soccer) in the NCJ AA Division.

The University boasts excellent indoor and outdoor training facilities whilst accommodating 1000 supporters at each of their matches. All matches are televised and can be seen worldwide. JJ’s offer means he will not have to pay for tuition fees or living costs while he studies.

Mike Sandmann, Academy Manager said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for JJ and there is not a player who deserves it more than him. Throughout his two years with Dover Athletic Academy I have seen JJ develop as a player and a character.

“His work ethic is second to none, he always wants to improve and his desire for success has always been something that has really pleased me as his manager. To be offered a scholarship in America is a real achievement but to be offered a full scholarship with no fees is just testament to his hard work and constant willingness to improve as a player.

“I couldn’t be happier for him and will be looking forward to keeping tracks on his progress whilst he is away”.

JJ added: “I am really looking forward to going and having this once in a life time experience. I was looking forward to going to America in itself, but Florida makes it even better. I also can’t wait to play at a high level of football with the best facilities; hopefully, this can be the start of helping me to achieve my dream goal”.

Dover Athletic Chairman, Jim Parmenter said: “It’s fantastic to see the great work at the Academy providing such a wonderful opportunity and it demonstrates another example of how the Club’s work in the community and education is bearing fruit”.

SIGN O' THE GRIMES

SIGN O’ THE GRIMES

*BS*The club have moved quickly to secure their first target ahead of the 2015/16 season, with highly-rated central defender Jamie Grimes joining the club from Kidderminster Harriers.*BF*

24-year-old Grimes came through the ranks at Premier League side Swansea City before joining Harriers in March 2013 – initially on a short-term deal.

He impressed sufficiently to be offered a year-long deal last summer, and was a near ever-present this season in their side. He made 41 appearances for the side, who finished 16th in the Vanarama Conference table this season.

The 6 foot 2 inch commanding centre back also picked up two awards at Harriers’ end of season awards evening, collecting the club’s Away Fans’ Player of the Season and the Junior Supporters Player of the Season gongs.

Grimes was offered a deal to stay at Aggborough by boss Gary Whild for the 2015/16 season but has instead chosen to join Chris Kinnear’s ranks at Crabble as the side look to build on the successful season that saw the club end in 8th place in our first season back in the Vanarama Conference table.
