*BS*Dover Athletic suffered back-to-back defeats in the Vanarama Conference for the first time since September as they lost at fellow play-off chasers FC Halifax Town.*BF*

Tom Murphy’s wonderful strike gave Whites hope after first half goals from Lois Maynard and Richard Peniket put the hosts in a deserved lead at the break.

But Jamie Jackson’s excellent lob restored the Shaymen’s two-goal lead before Colchester United-loanee Dan Holman scored six minutes into his debut, but it only proved to be a consolation for Chris Kinnear’s side.

Sean Francis’ injury time tap-in was disallowed as Dover fell back into the bottom half of the table and nine points below the play-offs following defeat at the Shay.

DAFC ACADEMY TRIALS

*BS*Potential stars of the future are being invited to attend trials for Dover Athletic’s Academy – taking place on Friday February 20th at 10.30am.*BF*

Dover Athletic are pleased to confirm details of upcoming Academy trials, held this coming Friday.

The Academy represents Dover Athletic in the Conference Youth league, which is the highest league outside of professional youth football. It offers football coaching from UEFA ‘A’ licensed coaches on a state-of-the-art 3G pitch, and provides a unique opportunity to study a range of courses alongside football commitments.

In partnership with The Abbey School 6th Form, The Academy boasts a 100% pass rate in A Level and BTEC courses and there is also the chance to take additional coaching and fitness instructor courses.

American scholarships are also available and travel grants can be offered to qualifying students. The system offers the opportunity to progress right through to the Dover Athletic first team – a path already taken by Whites defender, Sean Raggett.

The Academy also has it’s own Twitter page – @DoverFCAcademy – which will include the latest fixtures, results and player news.

The trials will take place on Friday February 20th at 10.30am, at The Abbey School. If you are interested in attending the trials please email:
