Substitute Sean Francis helped Dover Athletic claim their first point on the road in four weeks as they drew against Southport in the Vanarama Conference Premier.

Stefan Payne headed in his sixth goal of the season before John Marsden and Joe Connor put Southport in control in the first half, but Francis – who was excellent – emphatically headed home for a share of the spoils at Merseyrail Community Stadium.

It was a game which Kinnear’s side could have won, but they will still be content with a point as they prepare to take on League Two side Morecambe in the FA Cup First Round at Crabble on Saturday – with several key players likely to be rested on Tuesday’s Kent Senior Cup Second Round tie against Folkestone Invicta.

FOLKESTONE DERBY CUP TIE

PREVIEW: FOLKESTONE HOME

*BS*Dover Athletic take on neighbours Folkestone Invicta in a south-east Kent derby at Crabble in the second round of the Kent Senior Cup on Tuesday night.*BF*

Whites are currently enjoying a decent run of form, having lost only twice in their 10 competitive matches, recently qualifying for the FA Cup First Round and coming from behind to draw with Southport in the Vanarama Conference Premier on Saturday.

Now Chris Kinnear’s side switch their attention to the Kent Senior Cup – a competition where they reached the final of last season – as they take on Neil Cugley’s Folkestone for the first time since January 2010.

Dover progressed to the second round of this season’s competition with a 2-1 home victory against Ryman South outfit Faversham Town last month, while Folkestone – another Ryman South club – received a bye into the second round.

*Ppic1**BS*TEAM NEWS*BF*
Stefan Payne scored a brace in Whites’s first round victory against the Lilywhites, however he is likely to be rested along with several other key players ahead of Dover’s FA Cup First Round fixture against League Two side Morecambe on Saturday.

This means Greg Rutherford is likely to make his debut for Chris Kinnear’s side since being released from Hartlepool United and could link up with strike-partnership Nathan Elder and Jake Reid, who have been both lacking game time in recent weeks.

Other players who are likely to feature on Tuesday evening are Lee Hook, Sean Raggett, Sean Francis, Robert Gerrard, Liam Bellamy, Barry Cogan and Christian Nanetti, who all did not feature in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Southport, with the exception of Francis who headed in an equaliser.

*BS*OPPOSITION FORM*BF*
Like Whites, Invicta are also enjoying a similar run of good form, having not lost in their last 9 competitive matches, with the exception of a penalty shoot-out defeat at Ramsgate in the Robert Dyas (Isthmian League) Cup.

They currently occupy 3rd place in the Ryman South – their fourth consecutive season at that level – after winning 9 of their opening 16 league games, and only losing on two occasions, although both defeats have come away from their Cheriton Road ground.

Invicta – whose manager Cugley has been in charge for over a whopping 900 games since being appointed in 1997 – have not enjoyed much success on the road this season so far after recording only three away wins in the league, and have also exited the FA Cup and the Isthmian League cup as the visiting team.

*Lpic1**BS*HEAD-TO-HEAD RECORD*BF*
Whites’ last competitive game against Folkestone was in January 2010 when Invicta knocked them out of the Kent Senior Cup with a 2-0 win, although mainly DAFC Academy players filled up the starting line-up that evening.

That was the first meeting between the two sides since the 2004/05 Ryman Premier League season, with Cugley’s side recording a double over Dover (both 1-0 wins) as Whites suffered relegation.

Whites’ last competitive victory over Folkestone dates back to February 2004, when goals from Craig Cloke and Issy Amadi helped Dover to a 2-0 win in the Isthmian Cup, before losing to Crawley Town in the following round.

*BS*MATCH INFORMATION*BF*
Once again, the club are offering fans to watch Whites in Kent Senior Cup action for just a fiver at Crabble as Kinnear’s side aim to reach the quarter-finals of the competition at the expense of Invicta.

PREVIEW: SOUTHPORT AWAY

*BS*Dover Athletic turn their attentions back to the Vanarama Conference as they make the 630 mile round trip to Southport in Merseyside on Saturday.*BF*

*Link1* last Tuesday courtesy of Nick Deverdics first goal for the club.

Kinnear’s side will now face Morecambe in the first round proper. This is the third time in five seasons that Dover have made it the FA Cup first round.

Dover are currently one point and one place above the relegation zone in 20th position, however a win on Saturday will see them leapfrog Southport, who only have one more point than Whites.

*Lpic1*Club captain Craig Stone is expected to regain his place in the defence after being rested for the FA Cup replay last Tuesday.

Christian Nanetti made a late substitute appearance against the Sports and could also regain his places in the starting XI on Saturday.

Midfielder Matt Lock is a doubt for the game on Saturday, however he is close to fitness and may make his first appearance since the 2-3 loss at Nuneaton Town on Tuesday 7 October.

New singing Greg Rutherford was on the bench in the last game and will be hoping to be involved in the first team squad again.

Southport needed penalties to knock out Conference north side Tamworth in the FA Cup, although they did play 70 minutes with 10 men.

The Port are currently unbeaten in five games in all competitions and haven’t lost since losing a seven goal thriller 2-5 to Woking on October 4.

Just two days after the defeat to Woking, the club parted company with now ex-manager Martin Foyle and replaced him with Gary Brabin. This is now Brabin’s second spell at Southport.

Brabin is yet to taste defeat with the Port during his second stint at the club, having drawn three and won two games in all competitions.

Top scorer and danger man Richard Brodie will miss Saturday’s clash due to picking up his fifth yellow card of the season. He has netted five teams so far this season.

*Lpic2*Defender Clayton McDonald faces a three match suspension after his early straight red card during the FA Cup replay against Tamworth.

Youngster Luke George is ruled out due to a facial injury he picked up earlier in the campaign.

Dominic Collins is a doubt for the match against Dover with a back injury.

The last time Dover travelled to Southport was the 20 October 2001 *Link2*. The reverse fixture at Crabble that season resulted in a *Link3*.

The 2014/2015 seasons marks the fifth consecutive season that Southport have participated in the Conference.

Last season, the Port finished 18th with 53 points.

The best season Southport had in the Conference was in the 2011/2012 season where they finished 7th, just five points adrift of a play-off position.

Dover have scored one more goal, and conceded one less than the Port so far this campaign.

Brabin’s side have kept six clean sheets so far this season while Dover have kept five in all competitions.

As we enter the month of November, Whites will be hoping to have similar form to what they had last year during the month having only lost once.

The match on Saturday will be segregated. Dover fans will be located behind one of the goals in an uncovered terrace.

Admission for the game is £13.50 for adults, £10 concessions, £8 for 12-18’s and under 11’s go free providing they are with a paying adult.

Supporters unable to make the trip to the newly named Merseyrail Community Stadium on Saturday can keep up to date with all key moments during the game via the clubs twitter feed. Please follow @DAFCLiveText.
